Round up the Usual Suspects

A growing list of futurist lists. Parse that if you can.

Ross Dawson has come up with his own take on who’s who in the world of futurists, perhaps inspired by Marshall Kirkpatrick’s Little Bird report on work futurists (see The C-Suite’s Challenge: The Changing Future of Work). I was included in Kirkpatrick’s report, along with Tom Peters, Charlene Li, Dave Gray, Seth Godin, and Dion Hinchcliffe.

Round up the usual suspects!

Dawson’s tabulation is based on various influencer numbers — like Twitter reach and Klout scores (Klout? Really?) — but at least the numbers are exposed, unlike Little Bird’s proprietary algorithm.

A number of really smart folks are in the list, like William Gibson (8), Don Tapscott (6), Kevin Kelly (9), and Rachel Botsman (18). I make an appearance at 34 near Marina Gorbis of the Institute of the Future (32), Faith Popcorn (37), Jamais Cascio (54), and Anab Jain (50).

Somehow I think Dawson’s formula must have a donut hole in it for me to be higher in the list than John Seely Brown — who I got to work with this year for the first time — but it’s great company to keep.
